Corcoran Honored For Service To State Horticulture Committee

Corcoran Receives Alabama Farmers Federation Leadership Award
Barbour County Farmers Federation member Allie Corcoran was honored with an Individual Leadership Award for Local and Community Services from the Alabama Farmers Federation during an awards ceremony Dec. 3.
For the local community, Corcoran established and continues to organize the Barbour County Ag Day for all third-graders in the county. She also coordinates crop tours and field days for Barbour and Russell counties, hosted a wild hog control workshop and promotes the Ag in the Classroom program.
She is also a past State Young Farmers Committee chair and completed the Agricultural Leaders For Alabama (A.LF.A. Leaders) program in Class III.
Corcoran received the award during the second general session of the Federation's 97th Annual Meeting in Montgomery, which drew over 1,200 attendees to the Capital City. From left are Federation Executive Director Paul Pinyan and Corcoran.
Barbour County Student Participates In Alfa Youth Leadership Conference

Barbour County Student Studying Agriculture Earns College Scholarship
Auburn University student Becky Hawkins of Barbour County received a $1,750 scholarship from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and Barbour County Farmers Federation. She was recognized at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Scholarship Reception at the Ham Wilson Livestock Arena in Auburn Sept. 20. Hawkins, who is from Eufaula, is a sophomore studying agricultural business and economics.
