Langley Brings Home Banners Following Three Junior Beef Expo Events
Chelsea Langley of Chambers County won Reserve Grand Champion during the Junior Beef Expo (JBE) Market Show March 15. The steer was also Reserve Champion in the Crossbred Division. The Reserve Grand Champion prize was sponsored by the Southeastern Livestock Exposition. She is pictured with judge Jim Bloomberg of Illinois and Federation President Jimmy Parnell.
Langley also won Third Overall Champion during the JBE Market Show, with her steer that was Champion in the Charolais Division. The Third Overall Champion prize was sponsored by Yellawood.
JBE is presented by the Alabama Farmers Federation and held in conjunction with the SLE Rodeo at Garrett Coliseum in Montgomery.
During the JBE Breeding Heifer Show March 16, Langley exhibited the fifth-place overall heifer at the 2019 Alabama Junior Beef Expo (JBE) March 16 in Montgomery. Her heifer was reserve champion in the Commercial division. Her prize was sponsored by Alabama Municipal Electric. She is pictured with Breeding Heifer Show judge Owen Macfarlane of Grandview, Texas, and Alabama Farmers Federation President Jimmy Parnell.
Langley also brought home awards from the JBE Showmanship Contest March 14, where she was named Senior Reserve Champion. Langley is pictured with Bloomberg and Parnell. Showmanship was sponsored by the Federation and Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation.
County Farmers Visit U.S. Rep In Washington, D.C.
U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Saks, met with constituents during the Alabama Farmers Federation’s biennial Washington Legislative Conference in the nation’s capital March 5-7. During breakfast meetings, farmers and their congressman discussed issues of local and national relevance. Local Farmers Elected To Serve On, Honored For Service To State Commodity Committees

Chambers County Farmers Federation Earns 2018 Award of Excellence
The Chambers County Farmers Federation received the Award for Excellence Dec. 3. during the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 97th Annual Meeting in Montgomery. To earn the distinction, counties must score at least 80 points out of 100 on the award application, which covers involvement in agricultural programs, governmental affairs, county Women’s Leadership and Young Farmers committees.

Outgoing, New Chambers County Farmers Federation Presidents Recognized
New Chambers County Farmers Federation President Jack Robertson and outgoing President Phil Slay were recognized during the Presidents Luncheon at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 97th Annual Meeting Dec. 3 in Montgomery. Slay, center, received a plaque for his two years of service, and Robertson, right, received a pin to commemorate his election. Slay Competes In Annual State Heritage Cooking Contest
Lillian Slay of Chambers County entered her recipe for Bacon-Wrapped Tater Tots in the 2018 Heritage Cooking Contest. The annual contest is sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation Women's Leadership Division and highlights a specific commodity. For 2018, pork was the highlighted commodity.
Bacon-Wrapped Tater Tots
12 slices of maple bacon cut in half
24 tater tots
1 tsp. garlic powder
1 tsp. Ranch dressing powder
1 tsp. Parmesan cheese
Scant 1 tsp. black pepper
Directions: Preheat over to 400 degrees. Mix garlic, ranch powder, parmesan cheese and black pepper. Mix well. Coat one side of half bacon slice with mixture. Roll tater tot on coated side. Place on jelly-roll pan lined with parchment paper. Bake for 18-20 minutes. Remove from pan to paper towel. Enjoy!
