OUTGOING, INCOMING COUNTY PRESIDENTS HONORED
Incoming Limestone County Farmers Federation President Jeff Peek and outgoing President Paul Looney were recognized during the Presidents Luncheon at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 95th annual meeting Dec. 5 in Montgomery. Looney, center, received a plaque for his six years of service, and Peek, right, received a pin to commemorate his election. LIMESTONE COUNTY YOUNG FARMERS HOST COUNTYWIDE FFA DISCUSSION MEET
The Limestone County Farmers Federation and the Young Farmers Committee recently hosted an FFA Discussion Meet contest for the six FFA chapters in Limestone County. The contest had 45 FFA members participate through three days of local chapter competitions, county contests and a final round of the top four individuals. The contest stimulated a committee meeting where participants held a courteous debate on a variety of agriculture topics including food labeling, careers in agriculture and sustainability in agriculture.

LIMESTONE COUNTY STUDENT STUDYING AGRICULTURE RECEIVES COLLEGE SCHOLARSHIP
Auburn University student and scholarship recipient Chapman Bodiford of Athens was recognized during the Alabama Farmers Federation 2016 Scholarship Recipients Luncheon Aug. 27 at the Ham Wilson Arena in Auburn. Bodiford graduated from Athens High School and studies pre-biosystems engineering.The $1,750 scholarship was funded by the Limestone County Farmers Federation and the Federation’s Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation.
