Outgoing, New Lowndes County Farmers Federation Presidents Recognized
New Lowndes County Farmers Federation President Thomas Ellis and outgoing President David Lee were recognized during the Presidents Luncheon at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 97th Annual Meeting Dec. 3 in Montgomery. Lee, center, received a plaque for his two years of service, and Ellis, right, received a pin to commemorate his election. Lowndes County Student Studying Agriculture Earns College Scholarship
Auburn University student Laura McCurdy of Lowndes County received a $1,750 scholarship from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and Lowndes County Farmers Federation. She was recognized at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Scholarship Reception at the Ham Wilson Livestock Arena in Auburn Sept. 20. McCurdy is a junior studying agricultural communications and is from Lowndesboro. Ellis, Lee Graduate From A.L.F.A. Leaders Program
Lowndes County’s Stinson Ellis and David Lee graduated from the two-year Agricultural Leaders For Alabama (A.L.F.A. Leaders) program in Montgomery Aug. 2. The 17-member A.L.F.A. Leaders Class IV was recognized at the 46th Commodity Producers Conference hosted by the Alabama Farmers Federation, which sponsors the program. Members attended six institutes from Montgomery to Washington, D.C., to Spain during A.L.F.A. Leaders, which stressed personal development, communication, political involvement and an in-depth understanding of the Federation. From left are Federation President Jimmy Parnell; Ellis, the assistant shelling manager at Priester’s Pecan Co. who lives in Fort Deposit; and Lee, a cattle farmer from Letohatchee.
