Marion County Farmers Federation Hosts 2017 Annual Meeting
The Marion County Farmers Federation (MCFF) recognized Mississippi State University student and scholarship recipient Taten Palmer during the group's annual meeting Aug. 7 at the Hamilton Recreation Center. Taten graduated from Hamilton High School in May. He is shown with MCFF President Kenneth Real.
Also during the annual meeting, MCFF members made an official donation to Children's of Alabama. The donation was part of the Alabama Farmers Federation's Welcome Wagon for Kids, which pitted the organization's 10 area organization directors against each other for a fun, light-hearted fundraiser. Marion County Hosts Farm-City Banquet To Honor Award Winners
The Marion County Farm-City Awards Banquet was Nov. 17 at the Tombigbee Electric Community Room in Hamilton. F.A.W.N Program Reaches Sixth-Graders With Forestry Information
Sixth-graders from Marion County schools recently participated in F.A.W.N. (Forestry Awareness Week Now). Students from Hackleburg, Phillips in Bear Creek and Hamilton attended Oct. 4, and students from Brilliant, Guin and Winfield attended Oct. 6. They rotated among stations for honeybees, wildlife management, forest management, fire safety, GPS units, soils, Project Learning Tree, ATV safety and Native American culture.
Hamilton Homecoming Week Features Fatal Vision Event
The Hamilton High School Student Government Association and Marion County Farmers Federation partnered to sponsor the Fatal Vision program Sept. 15 during Homecoming Week.
Fatal Vision educated high school students about the dangers of drunk and distracted driving. Supervised students wear goggles that simulate different levels of intoxication while driving an ATV through a course.
