Randolph County Farmers Federation Earns 2018 Award of Excellence
The Randolph County Farmers Federation received the Award for Excellence Dec. 3. during the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 97th Annual Meeting in Montgomery. To earn the distinction, counties must score at least 80 points out of 100 on the award application, which covers involvement in agricultural programs, governmental affairs, county Women’s Leadership and Young Farmers committees.

Fetner Receives Alabama Farmers Federation Leadership Award
Randolph County Farmers Federation member Jimmy Fetner was honored with an Individual Leadership Award for Local and Community Services from the Alabama Farmers Federation during an awards ceremony Dec. 3.
Fetner was essential in the development of the Randolph County Ag and Equine Center. He used his expertise to find solutions to problems that arose and built strong relationships with individuals and organizations to ensure the project was completed.
The completed Randolph County Ag and Equine Center is a superb facility for youth livestock events and agricultural education and promotion.

Wysner Receives Alabama Farmers Federation Senior Leader Award
Randolph County Farmers Federation member Dean Wysner received the Senior Leader Award from the Alabama Farmers Federation during an awards ceremony Dec. 3.
The Alabama Farmers Federation Central Area vice president since 1999, Wysner has been a member of the county Federation Board of Directors for 50 years. He is a past county president and past State Beef Committee chair.

The Senior Leader Award is reserved for individuals who are over 70 years old and have served as a county Farmers Federation president, State Women’s Leadership Committee chair or Federation State Board member.
Celebrating 200 Years Of Alabama Agriculture With Local Farm-City Event
The Randolph County Farm-City Breakfast was Nov. 15 in Wedowee. Alabama Farmers Federation Organization Department Director Mike Tidwell was the guest speaker.
Randolph County Student Earns College Scholarship
Auburn University student John Adcock of Randolph County received a $1,750 scholarship from the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation and Randolph County Farmers Federation. He was recognized at the Alabama Farmers Federation’s Scholarship Reception at the Ham Wilson Livestock Arena in Auburn Sept. 20. Adcock is a senior studying agricultural business and economics and is from Woodland. Norred Competes In Annual Heritage Cooking Contest
Pat Norred of Randolph County entered her recipe for Pepper Poppers in the 2018 Heritage Cooking Contest. The annual contest is sponsored by the Alabama Farmers Federation Women's Leadership Division and highlights a specific commodity. For 2018, pork was the highlighted commodity.
14 jalapenos, deeded
1 (16 oz.) package pork bacon
8 oz. cream cheese
½ red bell pepper, diced
1 cup grated sharp cheese
1 Tbsp. seasoned salt
2 Tbsp. hot sauce
Directions: Mix all ingredients, except peppers and bacon. Spoon into peppers and wrap with bacon. Bake in oven at 400 degrees for 1 hour.
