The Alabama Farmers Federation presented $120,000 and 10 red wagons to Children’s of Alabama Aug. 30. Front row from left are State Legislative Programs for the Senate Director Matthew Durdin, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Cause Marketing and Corporate Partnerships at Children’s Director Emily Hornak and Federation Executive Director Paul Pinyan. Back row from left are Area 2 Director Wiley Bailey, Area 6 Director Wallace Drury, Area 5 Director David Heflin, Bookkeeper Stacey Thrash, Area 3 Director Kyle Hayes, Area 8 Director Boyd Deal and Area 4 Director David Farnsworth.
Ten red wagons wrapped in farm images provided the perfect backdrop Aug. 30 for a $120,000 donation to Children’s of Alabama from Alfa Insurance employees and Alabama Farmers Federation members.
The Federation’s Matthew Durdin organized the Children’s fundraiser as part of the Alfa Cares initiative.
“In all of my years working at Alfa, this was one of my proudest moments,” said Durdin, the Federation’s state legislative programs director for the Senate. “To partner with Children’s of Alabama and raise $120,000 through a company-wide campaign proves we’re an Alfa family. We all know a relative, friend or neighbor touched by Children’s.”
The 10 wagons will transport patients within the hospital. One wagon was given in honor of each Federation area organization director, who raised more than $80,000 from county Federations and individual members.
With more than 2 million square feet, Children’s of Alabama is the third-largest pediatric medical facility in the U.S.
