The Senate gave final passage Tuesday to a bill making technical changes to laws related to livestock markets.
HB 84, sponsored by Rep. David Sessions, R-Grand Bay, repeals duplicative language related to the weighing of livestock; merges permitting requirements; and clarifies the authority of the Alabama Commissioner of Agriculture and Industries over livestock markets in the state.
The Senate approved the bill 31-0. Gov. Kay Ivey is expected to sign the measure into law. A companion bill, SB 115, was sponsored by Sen. Tom Whatley, R-Auburn.
The Federation supports the legislation.
