The Senate Thursday confirmed the appointment of a new member to the Alabama Environmental Management Commission (EMC), as well as two reappointments.
Scott Promer was confirmed to fill the unexpired term of former Vice Chair Scott Phillips, who resigned last month. Promer holds the seat on the commission which requires certification by National Well Water Association. He earned bachelor’s degrees in biomedical science and mechanical engineering from Auburn University and a masters of business administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He is program and client account manager for a civil engineering company. Promer’s term ends Sept. 30, 2020.
The Senate also confirmed the reappointment of EMC members James E. Laier, an engineer, and Dr. Samuel Miller, a physician. Their terms will expire Sept. 30, 2022.
