More than two dozen Alabama farmers impacted by Hurricane Michael received grants totaling $175,000 last month through the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation’s (AFAF) Hurricane Relief Fund.

A five-person, independent committee met in February to review applications for aid. Foundation President Jimmy Parnell said the grants are an example of how the agriculture community comes together to help neighbors in need.

Major donors to the fund included the AFAF, Bayer Crop Science, Alabama Ag Credit, Alabama Farm Credit and county Farmers Federations.
