The Alabama Catfish Producers sponsored “Country Music,” an 8-part, 16-hour documentary on Alabama Public TV highlighting the amazing history of country music in America. Learn more at aptv.org.

Leah McElmoyl and Barrett Gilbert were selected for Alabama Leadership Initiative Class III. The six-month program exposes leaders to public and private initiatives which strive to meet challenges facing Alabama. McElmoyl, a lawyer from DeKalb County, serves on the State Young Farmers Committee. Gilbert is Alabama Farmers Federation’s Area 1 Organization director based out of Limestone County.

The Alabama 4-H Foundation announced “The Center Of It All” campaign for Alabama 4-H Oct. 3. It focuses on expanding 4-H Center infrastructure to help fulfill the mission of providing hands-on learning for all Alabama youth. 

A wood pellet production plant is expected to create 85 full-time jobs in Sumter County and about 180 more jobs in logging and transportation. Enviva, the world’s largest producer of pellets burned for power production, will ship product on the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway from the Port of Epes.
