The Alabama Farmers Federation welcomed Montgomery County native Caleb Hicks to an internship with its Alabama Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association (AFVGA) May 21. This is Hicks’ third summer interning with the Federation.

Hicks is a recent graduate of Auburn University, where he studied agricultural communications.

“I am very excited to be back at the Federation this summer and to work with the AFVGA again,” Hicks said. “I am looking forward to learning more and promoting this organization while meeting new people in the agriculture industry.”

Duties include visiting farms, promoting the fruit and vegetable industry, coordinating farmers market programming and maintaining social media. He will also update the AFVGA membership database.

“Caleb is a talented photographer and communicator, and we’re excited for him to promote Alabama fruit and vegetable production,” said Mac Higginbotham, AFVGA’s executive director. “He is passionate about the industry, which shows in his work.”

Hicks is the son of Pat and Beth Hicks of Ramer. He graduated from South Montgomery County Academy in 2013.
