Alabama Farmers Federation Celebrates Centennial Annual Meeting
Nearly 1,200 farmers from every county in the state will be in Montgomery this weekend to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Alabama Farmers Federation.
“The centennial is a time to reflect on the past, remember those who came before us and rejoice in our accomplishments,” said Federation President Jimmy Parnell, the 10th leader of the state’s largest farm organization. “It’s also a time for recommitment to our values and visions.”
The meeting will be Dec. 5-6 at the Renaissance Hotel & Convention Center in Montgomery. It will feature a celebration of the organization’s history along with its annual business meeting, which will include electing state board members and leaders for the State Women’s Leadership and Young Farmers programs. Federation members also will commemorate the 75th anniversary of Alfa Insurance Co., founded by the organization in 1946.
During the annual meeting, outstanding farmers and county leaders who have served the organization will be recognized and honored. American Farm Bureau Federation President Zippy Duvall is among keynote speakers at the event.
The year-long centennial celebration will conclude Monday evening with a banquet and entertainment tracing the history of agriculture, the organization and music through the past 10 decades.
Note: Preregistration is required for all events.
