ALABAMA ROW CROPS SHORT COURSE SET FOR DEC. 13-14
The Alabama Row Crops Short course will be Dec. 13-14 at the Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center.
Formerly known as the Corn and Wheat Short Course, Dr. Brenda Ortiz, an Alabama Extension precision agriculture specialist at Auburn University, expanded the program in 2017 to encompass all Alabama row crops.
Ortiz said the course provides opportunities for well-known researchers, company representatives and farmers.
“The Row Crops Short Course has become an annual venue for nationally-known university researchers and private experts to share opportunities for improvement and crop advancement with Alabama farmers,” she said.

The conference will feature speakers from Auburn University, Mississippi State University, the University of Georgia, Clemson University, the University of Tennessee, Texas A&M University, Kansas State University, North Carolina State University, the National Cotton Council and alsoother government agencies.
There will also be a hall where companies will exhibit their latest product releases.
Dr. Audrey Gamble, an assistant professor in the Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences, has worked alongside Ortiz to expand the program to include many of the row crops grown in Alabama.
“Our goal has been to bring in top-notch speakers to provide information on the latest technologies and the best management practices for cotton, corn, peanut, soybean and also wheat producers,” Gamblesaid.
