Alfa Farmers Congratulates Myrex On Runoff Win
MONTGOMERY, Ala., Aug. 13 — The Alabama Farmers Federation hailed Tuesday’s Republican runoff victory by Cindy Myrex for Alabama House of Representatives District 12 as a testament to the power of grassroots campaigns.
“Cindy’s victory demonstrates how willing public servants can make a difference for their communities when they work hard and listen to their neighbors,” said Cullman County Farmers Federation President Lee Haynes. “We congratulate Cindy on her hard-fought win and look forward to supporting her in the general election as she seeks to represent the people of Cullman County in Montgomery.”
Myrex, a Realtor and lifelong resident of Cullman, defeated Cullman City Councilman Clint Hollingsworth in the Republican runoff with 59% of the vote. She will face Democrat Matthew Glover in the general election Oct. 28.
Haynes said the Federation’s local approach to political endorsements makes it unique among state organizations.
“Alabama FarmPAC endorsements are made by Federation boards of directors in the counties represented,” Haynes said. “We know the candidates and meet with them on issues important to our members. This relationship continues when they are elected, making the Federation one of the state’s most effective organizations in communicating with elected officials.”
Federation Organization Department Director Matthew Durdin echoed Haynes’ praise for Myrex’s work ethic and community engagement.
“When our local Federation members are united, they’re hard to beat,” Durdin said. “But it also takes a candidate who will put in the work, listen to constituents and serve with integrity. Cindy Myrex earned the support of the Farmers Federation and voters by showing she’s willing to work hard every day for the people of Cullman County.”
Myrex graduated from Cold Springs High School and attended Wallace Community College where she received her real estate license. Myrex is a sales agent for Lake Homes Realty where she specializes in Smith Lake and Cullman County properties. She served as a Trump Alternate Delegate to the 2024 National Republican Convention and was elected to the Alabama Republican State Executive Committee for Cullman County. Myrex and her husband, Ricky, are active members of Temple Baptist Church. They have two adult children, four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. They reside in the Smith Lake and Bremen area.
