The Alabama Farmers Federation is accepting nominations to recognize Auburn University (AU) researchers and Alabama Cooperative Extension System (ACES) personnel whose work has tangibly affected farmers and the state’s agricultural industry.

Nominations are due June 7 here.

“We’re working with AU College of Agriculture, School of Forestry & Wildlife Sciences and Extension leadership to recognize staff who have made a difference for Alabama farmers,” said Federation President Jimmy Parnell. “We’re excited to honor inaugural award winners at our Commodity Producers Conference in Chattanooga in front of hundreds of farmers, many who benefit from their research.”

The Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation will sponsor two awards, whose recipients are addressing problems relevant to Alabama agriculture and forestry.

The Alfa Award for Production Agriculture Research will recognize AU faculty for creative and original research. The winner receives up to $10,000 in program support, which can fund graduate students or research operations.

The Alfa Award for Extension will honor ACES staff developing or implementing solutions for stakeholder-identified problems. The winner receives up to $5,000 for programming costs.
