Deer, Hog Baiting Bill Goes To Governor
Legislation authorizing the sale of permits for the hunting of deer and feral swine over bait won final passage in the House of Representatives Thursday. SB 66 by Sen. Jack Williams, R-Wilmer, passed by an 83-13 vote and now goes to Gov. Kay Ivey for her signature.
The bill would allow the purchase of a license to hunt deer and feral swine over bait on privately owned or leased lands. The annual bait privilege license fee would be $14 plus a $1 issuance fee for in-state hunters and $50 plus a $1 fee for out-of-state sportsmen.
The companion bill, HB 197, was sponsored by Rep. Danny Crawford, R-Athens.
