To honor a dedicated farmer, volunteer and leader, the Alabama Farmers Federation’s State Beef Committee is accepting donations for the George Michael “Mike” Henry Memorial Scholarship.

Henry, of Montgomery County, died last year at the age of 49. 

Since his passing, the committee has committed to raise $25,000 to endow a scholarship for Auburn University animal sciences students in Henry’s name. Henry was an Auburn University alumnus and member of the 1991 Livestock Judging Team.

Henry was a leader in Alabama agriculture, serving as president of the Montgomery County Farmers Federation and chairman of the State Young Farmers Committee. He and wife Denise were named Alabama’s Outstanding Young Farm Family in 2005.
