A new membership benefit from Alabama Farmers Federation promises to help members save money on gifts while expanding the market for Alabama-grown products.The Federation has partnered with Classic Basket of Birmingham to offer members free shipping of gift baskets within the United States. In addition, Beth Williams, who owns the gift basket company, hopes to use her connections within the Federation to expand her inventory of more than 600 products–most of which are made in Alabama.Williams recently presented Federation President Jerry Newby with a basket shaped like the state of Alabama that was filled with everything from Jefferson County honey to hot sauce made in Fayette, Ala. Newby said he was encouraged by Classic Basket’s interest in promoting Alabama farms and small businesses.Founded by Williams and her family in 1998, Classic Baskets offers gifts for all occasions. In addition to Alabama-shaped baskets, the company has packages for gardeners, movie buffs, children, corporate gifts, weddings and sports fans.
