The Alabama Farmers Federation’s annual Beef Tour will be heading to the Corn Belt this fall as participants visit a variety of locations throughout Iowa and eastern Nebraska.According to Perry Mobley, director of the Federation’s Beef, Equine and Hay and Forage Divisions, the Beef Tour has been scheduled for Oct. 25-31. Attendees will arrive in and depart from Omaha, Neb., but the majority of the tour will take place in Iowa. Some of the stops along the tour include a visit to a John Deere manufacturing plant, the Vermeer Museum that chronicles the history of the farm equipment manufacturer, cattle farms, ethanol and biofuels facilities and, possibly, a meat packing plant.”We are still in the early phases of setting up the trip, but we wanted to let our members know about the dates so they could make their plans,” said Mobley. “We’ll have more information forthcoming as the itinerary is confirmed.”Mobley said he anticipates two busloads to make the trip, about the same as last year’s Beef Tour that toured locations throughout Colorado. However, registration will be limited to 75.Mobley urges attendees to watch upcoming Neighbors magazines and the AlfaFarmers.org Web site for registration information.
