GINGRICH, IVEY AMONG SPECIAL GUESTS FOR FEDERATION ANNUAL MEETING

More than 1,200 farmers and guests will attend the Alabama Farmers Federation’s 97th Annual Meeting in Montgomery Dec. 2-3, which culminates with a keynote address from former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich.

The best-selling author and Fox News commentator will speak to attendees during the closing general session and dinner Monday evening in the Montgomery Convention Center. Gov. Kay Ivey will provide comments to start the session, which concludes with recognition of winners in the State Young Farmers Discussion Meet, Excellence in Agriculture and Outstanding Young Farm Family competitions.

The two-day meeting includes business sessions and elections for the Federation Board of Directors, Women’s Leadership Division and Young Farmers Division.

Alabama Agriculture and Industries Commissioner John McMillan will receive the Service to Agriculture Award, the Federation’s highest honor. Awards also will be presented to distinguished individual Federation members, as well as outstanding county Federations, Women’s Leadership committees and Young Farmers groups.

  • Silent auction to benefit the Alabama Farmers Agriculture Foundation (AFAF).
  • AFAF tribute breakfast honoring county leaders who passed away in 2018.
