The Alabama Farmers Federation welcomed Emily Jones to its event-planning team July 21. The Troy University graduate is a meeting planner for Destinations, the department that oversees meeting logistics for the Federation and Alfa Insurance.

Jones joins the Federation from Dogwood Media Solutions in Montgomery, where she was a digital media specialist. She brings first-hand knowledge of farm life to the Federation; her family raises beef cattle and row crops near Headland.

“Having grown up in an agriculture family, I am excited to plan events that directly impact rural communities and to work alongside some of the best meeting planners in the business,” said Jones, 23. “While my work at Dogwood Media centered on clients’ digital presence, I am excited to focus my attention full time on planning all aspects of events while continuing to grow and develop new skills.”

Jones graduated from Troy in 2019 with a bachelor’s in communication studies and a minor in public relations. During college, extracurricular activities helped spark an interest in event planning, which encouraged Jones to complete coursework in event management and hospitality.

Destinations Department Director Shane Watkins said Jones’s enthusiasm and organization will be a boon to the department and the members it serves. Destinations coordinates Federation events such as annual meeting, Farm & Land Expo, Young Farmers Conference and Women’s Leadership Conference, in addition to a bevy of Alfa Insurance meetings and incentive trips.

“We’re excited to bring Emily on to our team,” Watkins said. “Emily is joining Destinations at a pivotal time, as we continue working toward the Alabama Farmers Federation centennial celebration in December. We look forward to seeing her grow as we serve Federation members and insurance company employees.”

Jones and her husband, Brannon, will celebrate their second anniversary in December. They live in Montgomery and are involved in Gateway Baptist Church, where they lead small groups for middle and high schoolers. Outside of work, Jones enjoys reading, traveling, and spending time with family, friends and their dog, Cayman.
