Making Spirits Bright in Central Alabama

By Brooke Foster
The Britton Agency knows a thing or two about holiday magic.
Blending the spirit of community with the Christmas season, Alfa Agent Chris Britton and Associate Agents Mary Beth Hardt and Haley Hunter launched 12 Days of Local Love in 2025. The holiday podcast series was designed to spotlight River Region businesses, organizations and individuals who share a common thread — a commitment to making a lasting, positive difference in the community.
“At our agency, it’s about more than selling insurance. It’s about serving and helping people the best we can,” said Britton, who joined the Alfa Insurance family in June 2017 as an employee agent before opening his agency in Prattville in 2025. His daughter, Haley, joined him as an associate agent last October.
While each guest brought something different to the microphone, their stories combined to paint a larger picture of a community filled with people passionate about where they live, work and serve.
Britton said everyone they hosted on the podcast last year offered insight into the community, though one organization stood out.
“Drive-In Ministries has an incredible reach, and until they joined us to record their episode, I had no idea just how far their impact went,” he admitted. “Headquartered here in Prattville, their ministry shares the gospel with others across Alabama, the U.S. and other countries. Their work is really inspiring.”
Notable podcast guests included former Auburn University football player and current Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Central Alabama Area Director Steven Clark, who spoke about FCA’s mission to engage, equip and empower coaches and athletes to grow in their faith. Plus, Prattville Parks & Recreation Director Kellie Carter highlighted family friendly events happening throughout the holiday season.
“Shining a spotlight on people in our community is both a worthwhile venture and a gift,” Britton said. “Hearing their stories — all unique but filled with heart — reminds me how great this community is. We all do what we can to make the city better for the generations of families who call it home.”
Beyond the podcast, the team exemplifies the spirit of the season through other community efforts.

From Christmas giveaways to hosting Cookies & Photos with Santa, the team looks for opportunities to make the season brighter for local families. They also serve as a drop-off location for a toy drive and sponsor an Alfa-branded Christmas tree, which is displayed in the city’s Christmas Tree Trail and benefits an area nonprofit.
“Christmas at The Britton Agency is always a busy season, but we love doing what we can to make things special for our customers and friends across the community,” Britton said. “We’ve been given so much, it’s great to be able to serve others in whatever way we can.”
The Britton Agency will spread more joy this holiday season by hosting the second annual 12 Days of Local Love. Catch up on last year’s 12 Days of Local Love episodes by visiting thechrisbrittonshow.buzzsprout.com.
