The Alabama Farmers Federation’s Marlee Moore has been promoted to Director of Multimedia Content for the state’s largest farm organization.

Moore, 24, joined the Federation staff in 2016 as an agricultural communications specialist after earning a degree from Auburn University (AU). The agricultural communications graduate interned with the Federation in summer 2015.

“Marlee is a skilled communicator and recognizes the importance of advocating for members, as well as providing important information that helps farmers succeed,” said Federation Publications Director Debra Davis.

In her new role, Moore is responsible for the Federation’s social media content, where she will develop and execute outreach strategies through engaging posts, video and other digital content. Her goal is to inspire conversation, reach new audiences and drive engagement, Davis said.

Additionally, Moore’s new duties include serving as associate editor of Neighbors magazine, which reaches nearly 360,000 Alabama households, with specific responsibility for lifestyles content including the Country Kitchen and Alabama Gardener. She continues to be editor of the Cultivator, the organization’s monthly commodity and leadership newsletter.

“It’s a joy to serve Alabama farmers,” Moore said. “I come to work excited to share stories, promote products and advocate for agriculture on a daily basis. This new position allows me to capitalize on the relationships and knowledge gained over the last two years to better promote our members and their work across print and digital media.”

Moore’s writing gained national attention in 2017 when a story she wrote for Neighbors magazine, “Going Out With A Bang — Holy Smoke Offers Outdoorsmen One Last Shot,” won first place in a contest sponsored by the American Agricultural Editors Association (AAEA). AAEA is a national organization of communication professionals serving America’s agribusiness and rural lifestyle enthusiasts.

Moore is a former Federation scholarship recipient and was heavily involved in AU College of Agriculture activities. She was the AU College of Agriculture’s assistant student recruitment coordinator and represented the college as graduation marshal. 

The daughter of a forester and librarian, Moore was raised around the timber industry in her hometown of Thomasville. She currently lives in Auburn.
