The Alabama Department of Agriculture & Industries is accepting applications for its Century, Heritage and Bicentennial Farm programs through Aug. 31.

Century Farms have been in the same family for at least 100 years and are currently involved in farming. Heritage Farms have continuously operated as a family farm for at least 100 years. Both program designations require at least 40 acres of land and must be owned by the applicant.

Bicentennial Farms honor operations that have been in one family for 200 years, currently have agricultural activities, are at least 40 acres and are owned by an Alabama resident.
