Ingredients

4 teaspoons butter, divided (plus more for casserole dish)
2 teaspoons flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon grated onion
1 pint sour cream
1/2 pound Swiss cheese, grated
2 (16-ounce) cans whole green beans, drained
1 sleeve saltine crackers, crumbled

Preparation

Melt two teaspoons butter in a saucepan. Add flour, salt, pepper, sugar and onion, combining with melted butter. Add sour cream and stir until thick. Stir in cheese until melted.
Butter a 1 1/2 -quart casserole dish. Place beans in casserole dish and top with cheese sauce. Cover with cracker crumbs and dot with 2 teaspoons butter. Bake in a 400–degree oven for 20 minutes.
