CHOCOLATE CARAMEL BARS

Ingredients

2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour, divided
2 cups regular or quick-cooking oats
1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter or margarine
2 cups milk chocolate chips
1 cup chopped pecans
1 (12-ounce) jar caramel ice cream topping

Preparation

In a bowl, combine 2 cups of the flour with the oats, brown sugar, soda and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Set half of the mixture aside. Press remaining crumb mixture into a greased 9- x 13-inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans. In a small bowl, whisk caramel topping and remaining 1/4 cup flour until smooth; drizzle over top. Sprinkle with reserved crumb mixture. Return to oven and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown. Cool and cut into squares. Makes 4 1/2 dozen.
