COLD OVEN POUND CAKE

Ingredients

2 cups sugar
1 cup shortening
6 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation

Cream together sugar and shortening until fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. Sift flour and salt together and add to other ingredients, stirring in vanilla and mixing thoroughly. Pour into a greased and floured 10-inch tube pan. Put in a cold oven. Set to 350 degrees and bake for one hour. Do not open oven until cake is done. Cool in pan 10 minutes, then remove from pan to continue cooling.
