Ingredients

2 cups self-rising flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon sugar
1/3 cup shortening
¾ cup grated cheddar cheese
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup butter
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Preparation

In a mixing bowl, mix together flour, baking powder and sugar with a fork. Add shortening, cheese and buttermilk and combine with fork. Drop biscuits from a spoon onto a well-greased baking sheet. Bake 12 to 15 minutes at 350 F. Meanwhile, melt butter with garlic powder over medium heat. Brush warm biscuits with garlic butter.
