CAJUN CABBAGE WITH RICE

Ingredients

1 pound ground beef
1 pound ground hot sausage
1 (16-ounce) can light red kidney beans, drained
2 quarts or 2 (28-ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 (6-ounce) can tomato paste
1 bell pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 bay leaf
1 teaspoon chili pepper
Salt to taste
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
1 medium head cabbage, shredded
Hot cooked rice

Preparation

Brown ground beef and sausage together in a large skillet; drain well. Add remaining ingredients except cabbage. Simmer for one hour. Add cabbage and simmer until cabbage is done, about 15 minutes. Add water as needed. Serve over cooked rice. Makes 10-12 servings.
