POUND CAKE with TART CRANBERRY SAUCE
1 1/2 cups (3 sticks) butter, softened
3 cups sugar
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring
Tart Cranberry Sauce (recipe follows)
For the cake, cream butter, sugar and cream cheese thoroughly. Add eggs one to two at a time, beating with electric mixer about 2 minutes after each addition. Sift flour and add to creamed mixture, beating about 5 minutes. Stir in vanilla. Pour batter into a greased 9-inch tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 1/4 hours, or until cake tests done. Slice and serve drizzled with warm Tart Cranberry Sauce and topped with a dollop of whipped cream.
