Shortbread bars
Ingredients
1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
Melted chocolate or almond bark
Preparation
Heat oven to 350 F. Cream butter and sugar. Add salt and flour. Form into 2 balls. If too crumbly, add melted butter until dough sticks together.
Pat out with hands to about 1/2-inch thick. Cut into strips measuring 2 ½ inches by ½ inch. Bake on a parchment-lined cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes, until bars are barely brown.
Enjoy plain, or dip half the bar into chocolate or red and green almond bark.
