Ingredients

3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups butter or margarine
3 eggs
6 cups flour, plus more for shaping cookies
1 teaspoon baking soda
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 cup sweet milk
3 teaspoons vanilla extract

Preparation

Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs and mix well. In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients, then add alternately with milk to butter mixture. Add vanilla last.
Flour hands and sprinkle surface of dough with flour. Pinch dough and roll into small balls. Flatten on cookie sheet. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes at 325 degrees. Makes about 8 dozen.
