1 package German chocolate, devil’s food or any chocolate cake mix
3/4 cup margarine
2/3 cup evaporated milk (divided)
1 (14-ounce) package Kraft caramels
1 cup pecans, chopped
1 (6-ounce) package chocolate chips
Mix cake mix with margarine and 1/3 cup of the evaporated milk. Press 1/2 of this batter into greased 9-by-13-inch pan and bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes. Melt caramels in remaining 1/3 cup evaporated milk. Sprinkle pecans and chocolate chips over cake. Pour caramels over all. Do not try to spread too much. Top with remaining batter and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Cool completely before eating.
