Ingredients

3 pounds red potatoes (smaller potatoes are best)
1 teaspoon liquid crab boil OR 1 tablespoon granular crab boil
1/4 cup garlic salt
1/2 pound bacon
1 sweet onion, medium to large
8 ounces sour cream
Salt and pepper

Preparation

Cut and boil potatoes with crab boil and garlic salt until tender, about 20 minutes. While potatoes are boiling, cut bacon into 1-inch pieces and start frying, then finely chop onion and sauté together until bacon is crisp. When potatoes are done, drain water and let sit in pot for a couple of minutes to dry. Combine sour cream and onions and bacon with potatoes and use a potato masher to smash and blend together. Add salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
