FAVORITE POUND CAKE

Ingredients

2 sticks butter or margarine, softened
1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese, softened
3 cups sugar
6 large eggs
3 cups plain flour,BR> 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
3/4 teaspoon lemon extract

Preparation

In a large bowl, beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed of electric mixer about 2 minutes, or until soft and creamy. Gradually add sugar, beating at medium speed 5-7 minutes. Add eggs one at a time, beating just until yolks disappear. In a small bowl, combine flour and baking soda. Gradually add to creamed mixture, beating at low speed after each addition just until blended. Stir in flavorings. Spoon batter into a greased and floured 13-cup tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 20 minutes, or until a wooden pick comes out clean. Cool in pan on rack 10 minutes. Remove from pan.
