Granny Allen’s Custard Drink
Ingredients
4 quarts milk
10 eggs
6 cups sugar
4 tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons vanilla
Whipped cream
Preparation
Combine milk and sugar. Add beaten whole eggs, flour and vanilla. Cook very slowly in a thick pan or double boiler. Stir almost constantly until mixture thickens enough to coat a spoon. Chill by placing boiler in cold water, then refrigerate overnight. Top with real whipped cream before serving in a punch cup. –Jerry Newby President Alabama Farmers Federation
