DAIRY DAZZLER PIE
Ingredients
2 ounces unsweetened chocolate
2 tablespoons butter
1 1/2 cups sugar
2 tablespoons flour
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon salt
3 cups peeled, grated apples
2 eggs, well beaten
1/3 cup sour cream
1/2 cup butter, melted
3 tablespoons red cinnamon candies
1 (9-inch) pie crust, unbaked
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans
1/2 pint whipping cream, whipped
Preparation
Melt chocolate in the 2 tablespoons butter; set aside. In a large bowl, combine sugar, flour, ground cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Add apples; mix lightly. In a small bowl, blend sour cream into beaten eggs. Add to apple mixture. Add melted butter and blend. Sprinkle cinnamon candies in pie shell. Pour apple mixture over candies. Sprinkle pecans evenly over top. Drizzle half the melted chocolate over pecans. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake 40 minutes longer. Remove from oven and cool. Mound whipped cream around edge of pie and drizzle cream with remaining chocolate.
