BARBECUED SHORT RIBS OF BEEF

Ingredients

4 pounds beef short ribs
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 teaspoon chili powder
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup vinegar
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup dark corn syrup

Preparation

Place short ribs in a large pot and simmer, covered, for 2 hours, or until tender. Meanwhile, combine remaining ingredients in a bowl and blend well. Place cooked ribs on a broiler pan, and brush generously with barbecue sauce. Turn oven to broil and broil ribs about 45 minutes, until brown and crisp, turning ribs every 15 minutes and brushing with barbecue sauce. (Note: Ribs can be cooked on grill over medium fire for 30-45 minutes. Turn and baste frequently.) Makes 4-6 servings.
