THE MARTIN FAMILY’S CHILI
1 1/2 pounds ground chuck, browned, drained and rinsed 1 pound ground mild or hot sausage, browned and drained 1 (16-ounce) package frozen chili con carne, thawed 2 (15-ounce) cans tomato sauce with onions, celery and green bell peppers 2 (10-ounce) cans diced tomatoes with green chilies 2 (14-ounce) cans diced tomatoes, undrained 1 envelope chili seasoning mix 1 cup water
Combine all ingredients in a 5-quart slow cooker, blending well. Cover and cook on low heat for 2 hours. Serve with oyster crackers, grated cheese and sour cream, if desired. Makes 4 quarts.
