Ingredients
4 egg whites
2 sticks margarine, softened
2 cups sugar
4 egg yolks
3 cups all-purpose flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 cup milk, divided
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preparation
With electric mixer, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form; set aside. In a large bowl, cream together the margarine and sugar; add egg yolks, mixing well. Sift together flour and baking powder. Alternately add flour and milk to margarine mixture, beginning and ending with flour and beating after each addition. Stir in vanilla. Fold in egg whites. Pour batter into three greased and floured 9-inch round cake pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes, or until layers test done. Remove layers from pans to cool. Frost as desired.
