ITALIAN SPAGHETTI SAUCE
ITALIAN SPAGHETTI SAUCE
Ingredients
1 (1-pound) package Italian sausage
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 1/2 pounds lean ground beef
1 large onion, chopped
1 (29-ounce) can stewed or diced tomatoes
1 (29-ounce) can tomato sauce
2-3 bay leaves
1 tablespoon garlic powder or 2 cloves fresh garlic
1 tablespoon salt
1 tablespoon pepper
1 tablespoon oregano
Hot cooked spaghetti
Preparation
Slice each link of sausage into 4 pieces. Place sausage, oil, beef and onion in a large Dutch oven and cook until beef is browned and onion is tender. (Drain if regular ground beef is used.) Stir in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 2-3 hours, stirring occasionally.
