Ingredients

1 pound okra, sliced
1 green tomato, unpeeled and chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
3/4 cup plain cornmeal
1/4 cup plain flour
1/2 cup oil

Preparation

Combine okra and tomato in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Mix in the cornmeal and flour, tossing to coat vegetables. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add okra and tomatoes. Cook, stirring and turning occasionally, until crisp and browned, about 15-20 minutes. Makes 4 servings.
