MAMA’S TEA CAKES

Ingredients

1 3/4 cup sugar
2 sticks margarine, softened
2 eggs
3/4 cup oil
4 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cream of tartar
2 teaspoons vanilla

Preparation

In a large mixing bowl, combine sugar, margarine, eggs and oil; cream together well. Add all remaining ingredients, mixing well. The dough will be stiff. Drop dough by walnut-sized amounts onto ungreased cookie sheets. Press each cookie down with a fork dipped in water. Bake at 350 degrees 8-10 minutes, until lightly browned. Let cool on cookie sheets 1-2 minutes, then remove and let cool. Makes about 4 dozen.
