RUTLEDGE NAMED ALFA’S EXECUTIVE VP FOR BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Alfa Insurance has announced the promotion of Steve Rutledge to Executive Vice President for Business Development.The new position is part of Alfa’s ongoing commitment to provide policyholders unrivaled personal service. Rutledge, who has served as Alfa’s Chief Financial Officer and Senior Vice President of Investments, will oversee corporate development, marketing strategy, product development, property and casualty actuary and research activities of the company as well as provide guidance for Alfa’s Internet, call center and communications activities.”Alfa’s strength lies in the ability of our agency force and our premier claims service to provide personal service to our customers,” said Alfa President and CEO Jerry Newby. “This is a strength we already possess, but one we must continue to capitalize and grow.”Steve’s experience in working with all departments of the company, as well as his understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing the insurance industry as a whole, will serve Alfa well as we work to improve customer service, develop new products and expand our customer base,” Newby added.Rutledge said he appreciates the opportunity to further develop Alfa’s capabilities to serve its policyholders.”It is exciting to be part of this expanded commitment to provide the best in customer service to our policyholders,” Rutledge said. “Our vision includes an expanded product portfolio delivered through a professional agency force supported by our Internet and call center initiatives. He holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Auburn University and is a CPA. Steve and his wife, Amy, have three children: Frances, 19; Vinson, 18; and Bennett, 12.
