Alabama timber owners negatively affected by the COVID-19 pandemic can apply for relief funds through Oct. 29 here.

Administered by the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC), the one-time financial assistance payment system is based on the timber volume harvested March 1 to July 30. Eligible owners can receive $1 per ton for timber harvested.

If timber was sold lump-sum, the payment will be based as a flat percent of the lump-sum sale amount. Payments are capped at $10,000.

This program is made possible with $10 million in funding from the Federal Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act (CARES Act).
