Utsey Follows In Family’s Area 9 Footsteps

Robert Utsey, a Washington County native who has served Alfa Insurance as a senior claims adjuster since June 2005, will be following in the footsteps of his father-in-law when he assumes duties as the new organization director for Area 9.Utsey, who joined Alfa in August 1989 as a claims adjuster, will be succeeding long-time director Raleigh Wilkerson who retired Nov. 30. It was Wilkerson who succeeded Utsey’s father-in-law, Roy Rigney, in that same position when Rigney retired in 2003 after 31 years of service.”Robert is no stranger to the organization,” said Organization Director Mike Tidwell. “He has 18 years of experience in serving our members in the most difficult situations that life offers. With his love for working with and serving people, he’ll be a great fit for his new position with the Federation.””I am very excited about getting back in the area where I was born and raised, and working with some great people, farmers and landowners in that area,” said Utsey, who holds a bachelor’s in business from Livingston University and a master’s in management from Faulkner University. “I’m excited about building relationships with them, and assisting them any way I can.”Utsey and his family will reside in Thomasville in Clarke County. He and his wife, Shannon, have three children: son Luke, 19; daughter, Peyton, 14; and son Ty, 12.Utsey’s parents live in Millry, while his wife’s parents reside in Copeland.
