Venison Cubed Steak

Ingredients

6-8 cubed steaks
Buttermilk for marinade
Oil for browning steaks
1 large onion
1 can cream of mushroom soup
Milk for gravy

Preparation

Marinate cubed steaks in buttermilk for 6-8 hours. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Remove steaks from milk and pat dry. Salt and pepper meat to taste; roll in flour. Chop and saute 1/2 of the onion in a skillet. Remove onion and brown steaks in skillet on both sides. Place sauteed onion and browned steaks in baking dish and set aside. Add flour and milk to skillet for enough gravy to cover steaks. Slice remaining onion and add it, along with the soup, to the gravy and stir until it begins to thicken. Pour over steaks and bake for about an hour. The gravy will thicken as it bakes. Ann Vaughn, Madison County
